NEVER TRULY INNOCENT |
One of the longest surviving inmates of Deadman Wonderland arriving within the first week of it's acceptance of prisoners. Claus is mostly a man of mystery. Since his arrival at the cursed prison, he hasn't mentioned much at all of his past and his life outside of the death sentence. If anything there is just a name. His name obviously turns heads. Deadman Wonderland primarily housed Japanese inmates, and his name clearly originated elsewhere. His age is also a mystery to those around him, and his body seemed more than fit for a fifty-five year old man. Claus is German born. His accent is thick and almost violent even in its conversion to English and Japanese. Born in the colder months in Berlin, Claus has seen his fair share of the remnants of war and human hate. His father was a member of the Reich, his ideals led by fear of the German leader not by moral choice. However, even after the fall of Nazi Germany, his father's persona of a hard-handed and cruel individual stayed, and Claus was raised to a life-threatening home life. It was something he had to learn to quickly adapt to, and so he did. His child life was filled with negligence and poverty. It took Germany much longer to recover from World War II especially due to the Reparations they were all but forced to pay to the Allied Nations. Because of this, little money was to spare and children to war veterans were expected to help in what little ways they could. Claus was a shoe polisher for many of his younger years. As a teen, his father was no longer able to cause harm to the massively over grown son. His father's seed outgrew him, and in a twist of cruel fate, Claus returned the years of distrust and neglect. His father was murdered, but Claus was never convicted or suspected due to a pre-planned alibi. The boy's first taste of blood ignited a dark and endless hunger within him. He began thinking of murder increasingly more often. Walking down the street, he'd eye men, women, and even children. In his eyes they would walk around in blood, and every person before him was wearing their funeral clothes. Claus felt no disgust, but instead was intrigued and crazed by the idea of blood. He remembered his father's fear and surprise as he killed him, and the burst of energy only called to him more with each passing day. By means of passing time and to distract the unclean thoughts of his mind, Claus trained in Judo. He found the violent tendencies to be soothed by the preoccupation. It is something he has always been quite passionate about, and to this day continues to train and use efficiently. By the time Claus was in his early twenties, he had already killed a handful of people. He was careful and meticulous in his ways. He was flawless in his alibis and never left a trace on his victims that might convict him. With little technology available at the time, it was no wonder he had never been caught. Over the years Claus remained out in the open, but completely hidden in his psychopathic ways. The number of his murders reached a staggering amount. His signature was three cut marks along the chest, just over the heart of his victims about three inches long. He hid in plain site of the world. He ran into a woman named Lydia, and his world changed dramatically. He had never felt love before, and his feelings for her were genuine, as genuine as a psychopathic serial killer could manage.. Claus could never tell her the truth. He wished to start over in another country, and with much thought and convincing the couple moved to Japan. Claus thought the large population would help him to blend in better. Perhaps he could continue killing and still retain his love life. The two married after several years. Their life was great together, and he had managed to keep his murderous life away from his love life. They even spoke of having a child, but it was later found that Lydia was infertile. They applied to adopt, but being from another country halted their process for years. An earthquake struck Japan, sinking over half of its land mass. Both Claus and Lydia were trapped in the debris of their home. A strange red light surrounded them, allowing them to hold on if just by seeing each other. They were trapped for several days, surviving on water trickling down through the rocks from broken pipes. They were later found by a rescue team searching the area. The walls were lifted from on top of them and they were led to safety. The adoption process was completely halted because of these events. Unable to bare children and unable to adopt, Lydia was grief stricken. She became distant despite Claus's attempts to sooth her. Because of her distance and lack of communication, Claus began to also distance himself, instead turning to the night for solitude. He was finishing up a kill, bagging the sawed limbs when Lydia arrived, falling to the floor in shock. She had followed him. Lydia, through disbelief, threatened to turn Claus in for the murder. Claus had only always protected himself, and in fear reached out to grab her hand to stop her, and the scythe appeared, slitting her back from shoulder to hip. It was an accident by fear for his being turned in, and grief stricken Claus refused to leave her body. He remained there for two days in a state of shock. He had not moved, the door to the box car where he had killed the two remained open by the docks. He was found, and did not refuse arrest. He remained quite, but after being linked to several other murders throughout the decades it wasn't hard to convict him of his other murders. Because of his, Claus was sent to Deadman Wonderland by utter coincidence of its recent opening. Having arrived within the first week of it's opening, Claus quickly realized it wasn't much different than his life as a child. He would again need to fight to survive. His life meant everything to him now that Lydia was gone. He quickly rose to power in the ranks of those around him. Being a threatening and feared appearance, Claus earned the nickname Sin for his unquenchable thirst for blood. While in the prison, he has killed dozens of inmates in blood games. He has only lost once, luckily only losing a graft of skin from his back. He recovered fully and took his revenge. He was known initially for hoarding candies, trading them off trading them to the highest bidder for errands and personal necessities. His lack of fear was frightening. Despite being one of the older inmates, in both age age experience in the games, Claus remains fit and a very worthy and skilled opponent. |
CONDOR'S TALON
Claus's blood ensembles in the form of a three-bladed scythe made entirely of blood. A whip like projection comes from the end of the give foot thin but sturdy hilt and attaches to his wrist. His scythe is hardened like steel, unshatterable by way of normal attacks and must be broken down by use of similar blood crafted weapons or armor. If the blades begin to weaken, Claus will need to take a moment to repair the cracks, or if damaged enough reforge the scythe entirely. Reforging the scythe can severely weaken him as it requires a large amount of blood simply due to its size. There is nothing particularly special about the scythe, only that Claus wield's it with a mastery worthy of praise. His many years of fighting in the prison has earned him infamy.
Because of the large amount of blood required to make his scythe, it is only used when absolutely needed. Claus's mastery in Judo more than helps prevent the use for this in most small-time fights. When distance with his scythe is needed, he will use the whip like project that attached to his wrist to sling his scythe at the opponent.
During the quake he was trapped under debris and shards and dust surrounded him that glowed with a red hue. At the time his only thoughts were of his survival, but looking back he believes this is was caused the strange affects on his blood and his ability to manipulate it. A large shard had embedded itself in his skin on the left of his chest near his shoulder.
His discovery of his Scythe was shortly after the Japan quake. Claus had been followed by his lover, Lydia Wegner, later Schürer. In a turn of events Claus murdered Lydia with his blade by accident. This led to his arrest and arrival at the prison.
